TCES Tunnels' Shafts — Phase 01 / Deep Wells Dewatering Scope
Hydrology & Hydrogeology
Overview
For a major tunnels-and-shafts programme, ERCAN delivered the deep-wells dewatering scope — making it possible to excavate below the water table safely and on schedule.
Scope
- Hydrogeological data analysis, interpretation & model development
- Conceptual hydrological models
- Drilling, logging, pumping-test programme & geophysical borehole logging
- Groundwater sampling & chemical investigation
- Recharge wells per shaft/drain system & monitoring installation
- Dewatering model runs and supply & install of the dewatering system
Engineering Challenge
Controlling groundwater inflow into deep shafts without destabilising surrounding ground, requiring precise prediction of aquifer behaviour before a single pump was installed.
Delivery & Outcome
A full conceptual and numerical hydrogeological model built from drilling, borehole logging, pumping tests and chemical sampling — then translated into a recharge-well and dewatering system, installed with monitoring.
A validated, model-driven dewatering installation that kept the shafts dry and the programme moving, delivered in eight months.
